About Miles Kapper

I started in television production just out of college at a PBS affiliate that afforded me the opportunity to move through the various production positions, eventually into a management role. When I moved to the west coast I gravitated towards staging live events and never looked back. I enjoy the interaction between the production company, the client and the crew knowing everyone has one common goal to stage the best presentation possible. In addition to my live events work I think it is important to share what I have learned in over twenty five years of working in the corporate event environment and as such created a two hour interactive presentation I offer to theater classes around the country via Google Hangout or live. Some of the colleges and universities I have presented at are UCLA, Penn State and Cal Arts based in Los Angeles.

   TED is the eclectic gathering of folks with Ideas worth sharing. It is an intense four days that happens once a year at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center. While the basic tenets and rules of stage managing apply to this event, it is not your typical series of presenters taking the stage. There are some 80 presentations ranging from three minutes to eighteen minutes in length over three and a half days. This does not include \"shoutouts\" to or from one country to another, impromptu interviews, or performances. We utilize a dynamic show flow where the running order of events can change at a moments notice and we are expected to have all the elements for the next event ready. It can make for some challenging moments but the structure is in place to keep it seamless. My experience has included TED, TED WOMEN and TEDMED.
