ABOUT MILAD DELAVARY

Milad Delavary has been a research scientist with the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF) since November 2023. He is a statistician in road safety and is passionate about data analysis. Milad is also pursuing his Ph.D. at the health science department of the University of Québec. His doctoral thesis topic is about analyzing paramedics’ road collision datasets on the Island of Montreal. As a Ph.D. student, Milad is analyzing paramedics’ collisions in Montréal Island, Québec using statistical tools like Bayesian Network analysis as well as descriptive tools. He expanded his research interest to focus on the impact of policies and restrictions related to COVID-19 on new confirmed cases of COVID-19 as well as improving traffic safety. He received his master’s degree in Transportation and Road Engineering, with professional training including road safety engineering, time series analysis, and transportation modeling. Milad’s master’s thesis was on the application of time series models to evaluate the impact of law enforcement on gender-specific incidence rates of road traffic injuries and mortalities. Milad has evaluated the impact of policies like increasing traffic fines and law enforcement on road safety using interrupted time series analysis. In addition, he forecasted mortalities and injuries on road traffic in Iran using SARIMA and state-space models. Since graduating from the master’s program, Milad served as the traffic advisor for several international municipalities. He has also worked on the geometric design of roads for international municipalities. Milad’s research interests are road safety, public health, epidemiology, time series analysis, health and road safety policies, analysis of traffic interventions, and statistical modeling.
