ABOUT MIKHAIL KLASSEN
As a Senior AI Engineer at Planet, I develop systems and applications for monitoring and understanding our changing world using machine learning and generative AI. I work as part of a small team of research scientists and engineers focussed on developing novel capabilities using foundation models, computer vision models, and LLMs. My mission is building planetary-scale solutions for impact.Prior to joining Planet, I cofounded a venture-backed aerospace industry startup called Paladin AI and served as its Chief Technology Officer. I raised millions in financing, recruiting a team of engineers, and developed cutting-edge technology for adaptive training in commercial aviation. Paladin AI was acquired in 2023.I am also a scientist with a PhD in computational astrophysics and numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals on star formation, radiative transfer, and protostellar evolution. I\'ve worked on nuclear fusion energy and gravitational wave detection. I am also an advisor to several startups and host small gatherings of AI experts in Vancouver, Canada.
