About Michael Romashov
Hey, I\'m Mike! I\'m a second-year student at the City College of New York, where I\'m studying computer science with a particular interest in cybersecurity. I\'m also working with Bloomberg to provide entry-level trainees with feedback throughout their training and to introduce additional functionality to the internal search engine and knowledgebase. I have been programming for the past four years, learning mostly from small hobby projects. I consider myself proficient in Python and TypeScript, and I\'m currently improving upon my Rust and C++ skills. I have previously participated in the MIT BeaverWorks Summer Institute\'s program on Cybersecurity in Software Intensive Systems and was named a National Cyber Scholar with Honors by the National Cyber Scholarship Foundation. Apart from my academic goals, I have an interest in civil aviation and have been engaged in flight simulation for the past seven years. More recently, I\'ve been a maintainer in an open-source project that is developing an aircraft for the recent Microsoft Flight Simulator, where I have been uniting my two biggest passions and picking up a vast range of software development skills.

Reviewed Python projects completed by entry-level engineering trainees for correctness and adherence to best practices and language style conventions. Used GitHub\'s pull request review system to offer line-by-line suggestions on possible improvements to readability, maintainability, and performance. Conducted one-on-one tutoring sessions with trainees to review feedback and resolve questions regarding general programming topics. Developed a Next.js dashboard application that pulls data from GitHub repositories and Jenkins automated test reports to allow technical trainers to monitor both individual trainee and aggregate classroom progress. Implemented breadcrumb-powered search in the internal search engine and assisted other teams in integrating the new feature into their products through inner-source contributions.
