As an IT Operations professional with two decades of experience, my mission is to create secure and resilient IT environments and to ensure the users of those environments have support and customer service they can rely on. I have a Latin phrase that I like and try to keep in mind in my career, which is \"Aut viem inveniam, aut faciam\". It roughly translates to \"I will find a way, or make one.\" I like the phrase because I always strive to resolve any problem I am presented with.My daily responsibilities involve managing and troubleshooting Microsoft 365, Entra, Intune, on-premise Active Directory, and administration of complex systems like Citrix, VMWare, Sophos, and Veeam Backup, ensuring clients and end users experience uninterrupted operations. I have joked about being a \"Hyper-V Hipster\" because I have administered Microsoft ecosystem virtual servers since \"before it was cool.\" At Vanguard EMS, we were running virtualized Domain Controllers and a virtual Exchange Server in Microsoft Virtual PC in 2005, 3 years before Microsoft Hyper-V was released to general usage.I have also been heavily involved with administering a variety of VMWare and Microsoft Azure/Entra servers for the last 3 years.I know Microsoft Windows OS/Server inside and out but I am also my own worst critic when it comes to knowing my job and I always set my bar for accomplishments high. As such, I spend much of my free time furthering my knowledge within the industry and I strive to never stop learning. I maintain a large community of industry contacts and try to contribute as much as possible to the overall technology global knowledge base.Once I can find a new role that is stable I plan to add a few more industry certifications to document the skills I already have and I plan to start on a BS-IT degree. I believe having the skills counts more than the credentials, but it\'s difficult to prove that you have one without the other.Outside of IT, I like researching my ancestry and working on my family tree, Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Mystery books and shows/movies, supernatural/paranormal stuff, quality craft beer, and trying to get back into old-school tabletop roleplaying gaming and supporting the local Portland Winterhawks hockey team.I also listen to many podcasts across technology, true crime, and paranormal subjects and I enjoy listening to a variety of music.
