Sgt. Robert “Mike” Oliver of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has announced his intentions to run for Sheriff of Montgomery County in 2022. Mike Oliver is a law enforcement veteran and longtime resident of Clarksville, Tennessee. With over 32 years of continued law enforcement and leadership experience Mike Oliver is ready to serve his community on a new level. Vote Mike Oliver for Sheriff for the 2022 Montgomery County elections. With Mike’s diverse background at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, he has had many roles and responsibilities. Mike began his career at the MCSO as a deputy in the corrections division. Mike continued his work as a correctional deputy and was instrumental in several innovative programs that assisted in the advancement of the detention facility’s operations. After 12 years in the detention division, Mike was promoted to a road patrol deputy where he also served as a K-9 handler. During Mike’s tenure as a K-9 handler, he not only served the citizens of Montgomery County, but he also built strong relationships with other law enforcement agencies throughout middle Tennessee. In addition to Mike’s K-9 duties, in 2007 he was assigned to the 19th Judicial District Drug Task Force as a drug agent where he diligently investigated all levels of drug offenses occurring throughout Montgomery County and beyond. In 2012, after years of learning and understanding the K-9 program, Mike was promoted to the rank of sergeant over the K-9 division for the MCSO. Mike worked tirelessly over the years to advance the program not only to increase K-9 coverage and protection for the citizens of Montgomery County, but to also diversify the program in a way that it would continue to evolve and progress. Mike’s passion for serving his community has been a driving force behind his career. In 2019, he became the supervisory sergeant over the Special Victims Unit (SVU). Working with the SVU, Mike has been given unprecedented insight into the dangers that are upon us. That insight has given Mike the tools needed to combat crime and have compassion for the victims of those crimes. Mike has a strong working knowledge of public safety and the specific needs of the Montgomery County community. Mike has strong ties with his community and is a devoted husband to his wife Marci and an exceptional father to his three children, Savannah, Memphis, and Tammy Jade. Mike Oliver is prepared to dedicate himself to a new level of public service as the next Sheriff of Montgomery County.
