ABOUT MIKE OERTLI

Mike is a senior/staff level engineer with experience in technical engineering management, including responsibilities for all aspects of a project lifecycle from helping to define requirements and scope, designing all-new (or updating existing) system architectures, on-boarding developers, orchestrating tasking and integration, interfacing with customers, and ultimately demonstrating and delivering the capability. By regularly delivering code and products that exceed expectations, he demonstrates the advantages of staying organized, extracting clarity from ambiguity, advocating for his team and his project, and questioning assumptions.Mike\'s experience includes microservice backend platforms to collect and provide access to large volumes of data and metrics to user-facing applications. He thrives in complex situations by helping to resolve ambiguity and unify the team\'s understanding of the context and objectives for a project.In addition to his technical and managerial duties, Mike has been heavily involved in recruiting, conducting interviews, providing mentorship, and offering ongoing feedback to his team and across the engineering organization. Mike\'s focus, expertise, and passion is centered on defining and implementing software architectures to meet complex challenges, but he is also enthusiastic about identifying and implementing organizational improvements, streamlined processes, and generally getting the most out of engineering teams. Mike is also a shell scripting and shell dotfile enthusiast, largely due to the fact that - like anything with technology - no matter how much you understand, there is always so much more to learn.
