About Mike Mabin

Mike Mabin has nearly five decades of marketing and management experience. As the founder of Agency MABU, he provides strategic advice and creative services to a diverse array of clients including government agencies, non-profit organizations, mission-driven enterprises and Native American entities.Prior to starting Agency MABU, he served as an administrative member of a nationally recognized leader in the health care industry. During a 20-year career at this regional health care facility, Mabin was responsible for departments including Planning & Market Research, Marketing & Education, Fund Raising & Development, Community Outreach & Health Ministry, and Telemedicine & Telecommunications. He also led key organizational efforts such as strategic planning, mission effectiveness, customer service and leadership development. Mabin has provided strategic marketing counsel and communications services to influential federal clients such as the U.S. Departments of Defense, Justice and Treasury, as well as leading Native American organizations such as the National Congress of American Indians, the National Indian Education Association and the National Museum of the American Indian.Mabin majored in photography and film making at the prestigious Minneapolis College of Art & Design and later went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Communications and a Masters degree in Management from the University of Mary, Bismarck, ND. He is a lifetime, accredited member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and a founding member of the International Social Marketing Association. Mabin is an enrolled member of the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana.He is a serial entrepreneur. In addition to starting Agency MABU, he launched several other businesses including Nativeways Travel (non-profit travel agency), InnovatAR (augmented reality), Shutter Pilots (aerial imaging), Birdtree Studio (animation) Pemmican Patty Food Company and the American Indian Business Alliance (dba North Dakota Indian Business Alliance - NDIBA). Through his non-profit work with NDIBA, Mabin has provided counsel and support to over 50 other startup businesses serving Indian County. He recently completed a series of online Master Classes in cinematography, as well as an on-campus film school program at Maine Media. Having gone full circle in his career, he now spends his creative time capturing stories through photography, videography, writing and woodworking.
