ABOUT MIKE KNIEVEL

Leading supply chain, sourcing, and procurement operations for global production in the US, EU, and APAC is the hallmark of my over 20-year career. As a strategic thought leader, I have developed centralized procurement processes that drive efficiency across the enterprise. I am passionate about building a culture of inclusion focused on providing a space for innovative and creative ideas to deliver high-impact solutions. Moving forward, I remain committed to driving cross-functional collaboration to scale efficiencies and new ways of working across multiple projects and environments.I presently serve as Sr. Director, Procurement at Gilead Sciences, where I drive best-in-class global Procurement representation of R&D categories. From 2011 to 2013, I functioned as Principal Sourcing Consultant for MAK Resources. There, I drove significant increases in operational efficiency for Gilead Sciences by re-engineering and standardizing strategic sourcing processes and creating supplier management initiatives. I also previously worked as the Director of Materials for Solyndra from 2008 to 2012 and as the Materials Manager for KLA-Tencor from to 2008.A few of my career accomplishments: Established the Contingent Workforce Program to standardize procurement processes, increase visibility, rationalize supply base, and drive savings for temp/agency and professional services spend categories. Inherited the Responsible Sourcing Program, exceeding the first-ever corporate objective for supplier diversity by 15% and achieving the first-ever ranking of the program as #16 among companies surveyed in 2021 SF Biz Times. Built the entire purchasing and planning process, system, and team from development scale to $100M annual run rate to bankruptcy at Solyndra LLC. Created Category Management Guides (CMG) to standardize stakeholder mapping, category spend, category segmentation, category strategies, sourcing event pipeline, and preferred suppliers listSkills & Expertise:Global Procurement | Direct & Indirect Sourcing | Strategic Sourcing | Business Partnering | Strategic Initiatives | Supplier Relationship Management | Outsourcing | Contract Negotiations | Contract Management | Capacity Planning & Analysis | Process Improvement | Strategic Planning | Lean Operations | Category Management | Demand & Sales Forecasting | Compliance & Governance | Performance Management | Supplier Divesity | Culture Building
