ABOUT MIKE PAYNE

An ambitious, entrepreneurial and passionate Finance Director with 20+ years of driving commercial realism at the most senior level with both SME start-ups and world-leading organisations, predominately in the emerging technology sector. From early in my career I have pioneered the automation of financial systems and led dedicated teams in the UK, US and Europe to leverage substantial savings and revenue for £multi-million organisations. I am excited by fast growth and change – and have built a reputation for delivering long-term financial strategies that provide stable platforms that act as a springboard for corporate expansion. I was a key member in the formation of a cutting-edge Cambridge manufacturing business set up with the strategic aim of an exit within the first 5 years, which was achieved. The business was recognised as a Sunday Times ‘Tech Track’ fast growing enterprise where, together with my role as FD, I helped shape change and enhanced relationships between departments, clients and key stakeholders to realise commercial ambitions. I am a trusted sounding board at C-level across numerous diverse businesses, and have an innate ability to cut through complex layers of jargon to provide a real-world view of performance and control. I am an extremely hands-on leader across all functional areas of the business, with a track record of spotting sector and commercial gaps that offer revenue and growth opportunities.
