About Michael D. Devuono

As National Practice Leader for Stormwater Design and Engineering at Arcadis, I bring over 30 years of experience in civil engineering, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control to my clients. As part of the Arcadis Design and Engineering Leadership Team, I guide the strategic growth of our stormwater design practice, strengthen client and industry partnerships, and work closely with account leaders to deliver exceptional outcomes for their clients.I was recently a contributing author of the Virginia Stormwater Management Handbook, where I helped develop technical construction and post-construction BMP standards, and led statewide training sessions for engineers, contractors, and regulators. My project portfolio includes managing and designing E&S and stormwater solutions for municipal infrastructure, green infrastructure retrofits, watershed restoration, and complex industrial and emergency response sites. Notably, I led the rapid design and deployment of E&S controls for a nationally recognized train derailment site, coordinating emergency response and site restoration under challenging conditions.Throughout my career, I have overseen permitting, inspection, and documentation for construction-phase stormwater and E&S compliance, and am skilled in adapting best practices to diverse, site-specific needs. I’ve designed miles of storm and sanitary sewers (some of them with only a calculator and pencil) and hundreds of storage and water quality BMPs. At Arcadis, I mentor technical teams, develop internal standards, and drive innovation in stormwater and E&S practices. I also support professional development and certification for colleagues and contribute to industry technical committees and guidance development.I am a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran and lifelong Philadelphian.
