ABOUT MIKE DE GIORGIO

I am an entrepreneur and have founded and developed both commercial and social enterprises. I enjoy setting up and operating companies and like to support other entrepreneurs to do the same. I invest my personal time and money in these companies and have helped young entrepreneurs and business leaders to develop their own companies, supporting them to create the right environment for success. I support them by helping them to price their goods and services correctly, introducing them to a wider network, raising investment funds, and advising them how best to allocate their time to grow their business. Founding and exiting businesses, Intercontinental Finance in 1984, and Portman Consultants in 1986, enabled me later to focus on the charitable sector - through the setting up of Greenhouse Sports. For many years I was the full time and unpaid CEO of Greenhouse Sports – a charity that I founded in 2002 to help some of London’s most disadvantaged young people. The team at Greenhouse develops the social, thinking, emotional and physical skills that young people need, enabling them to achieve their potential. The role has now been passed onto a new management team whilst allowing me to remain as a trustee and passionate supporter. In many ways my work with entrepreneurs also reflects this – very few have access to theknowledge and capital required to operate the financial and operational side of a successful business. My involvement helps them to avoid some of the mistakes that I have made.
