ABOUT MIKE BURSELL

I am a proud technologist at heart, and this has fuelled my career for the last three decades. Even as I progressed to a senior executive level, I enjoyed helping organisations navigate the interface between technical and strategy. My business acumen blends well with cybersecurity, open source, IP, digital transformation, cloud and blockchain expertise. During my time, I have worked at, and with, some of the most renowned technology players, such as Intel, Microsoft, Citrix and Red Hat, most recently as Executive Director of the Confidential Computing Consortium I speak on Confidential Computing at many forums, translating complex terminology into simple business language. With a strong head for global business and a cultural awareness spanning Europe, US and Asia, I work closely with diverse stakeholders, coaching and mentoring founders / leaders in a wide range of areas, including how to expand their proposition, ways to manage and mitigate reputational, security and financial risk, and competition differentiation. In parallel, I have developed a portfolio career as a Board Advisor for new start-ups and scaling companies, mainly in the technology space, using my knowledge to assist with strategic direction setting, growth, patents / IP and go-to-market (GTM). Leveraging my vast personal network, I broker introductions with venture capitalists and angel investors. My book, Trust in Computing Systems and the Cloud, was published in 2021. I continue to offer consulting services to clients, including on Open-Source Strategy, Cybersecurity Architecture and Emerging Technology Ecosystems.
