Symphonia is a software consultancy. Initially a two-person partnership, I\'ve been working by myself since 2024.Symphonia\'s overall goal for the last few years is to help companies make the best use of Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies within a Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), and typically using some amount of \"Serverless\" services - AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, etc.Most of my engagements start with some kind of review: architecture; operations; costs; or even (once!) a technical due diligence review.About half of my engagements will proceed beyond the review to become longer term projects. Such projects usually include hands-on development; architecture / technical leadership and strategy; operations / DevOps implementation; or - most likely - all of the above. Usually the teams I\'m working with are building something new using techniques novel to the company. However I\'ve also been part of some significant \"re-platforming\" projects - taking existing systems and applying them with a different architecture.I have worked with small single-team companies to global enterprises, and many sizes in between. My work is appropriate for a wide range of industry sectors - I\'ve worked with financial service companies, hotel chains, established social networks, telecoms operators, and more.Beyond my consulting I enjoy writing and sharing how I like to build and maintain systems in AWS. I co-authored O’Reilly’s first book on AWS Lambda (http://shop.oreilly.com/product/06••••••••01.do), I maintain an active blog (https://blog.symphonia.io/), I publish open source code (https://github.com/symphoniacloud), and I\'ve spoken at many conferences.
