As a member of the Behavioral Health Planning Council through the Minnesota Department of Human Services (MN DHS), I contribute to the strategic planning and policy-making processes aimed at enhancing mental health and substance use services. My responsibilities include:• Strategic Planning: Collaborating with council members, healthcare providers, and community leaders to develop comprehensive strategies that address the needs of individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.• Policy Advocacy: Advocating for policies that improve access to quality behavioral health services, reduce stigma, and promote mental wellness across diverse populations.• Program Oversight: Monitoring and evaluating behavioral health programs to ensure they meet community needs and adhere to best practices and regulatory standards.• Community Engagement: Engaging with community stakeholders, including individuals with lived experience, to gather input and ensure that planning efforts are inclusive and reflective of diverse perspectives.• Resource Allocation: Providing recommendations for the allocation of resources to support effective behavioral health initiatives and improve service delivery systems.• Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilizing data and research to inform policy decisions, identify service gaps, and develop targeted interventions that improve outcomes for individuals and families.Through my role on the council, I am dedicated to advancing the quality and accessibility of behavioral health services, supporting recovery, and fostering a healthier, more resilient community.
