About Michael Basch

As of Summer of 2025, I am residing in Cambridge, MA where I am attending the Harvard Kennedy School Mid-Career MPA. For the year prior to that, we were based in Argentina, running Atento Capital remotely from there.As the Founder and General Partner at Atento Capital, I’m proudly collaborating with a vibrant group of humans dedicated to transforming Tulsa into an equitable hub of technology and innovation. Our mission at Atento Capital is to create a multifaceted platform where founders, partners, and investors collaborate to spark growth and inclusivity. With a portfolio of over one hundred investments in early-stage ventures and emerging fund managers, we take pride in our focus on traditionally overlooked founders, empowering underrepresented or female founders, representing at least 50% of our investments.In addition to my leadership at Atento Capital, I serve as a consultant for the George Kaiser Family Foundation. This role allows me to amplify our impact, working closely with the Foundation to democratize access to capital and enhance economic opportunities in the Tulsa Metro Area. Our collaborative efforts with the Foundation have been instrumental in launching transformative initiatives like Tulsa Remote, Build in Tulsa, and inTulsa, which are pivotal in our collective mission to nurture a vibrant and inclusive tech ecosystem.My entrepreneurial journey kicked off in high school, where I started as a barista at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, eventually opening my own store and then overseeing twenty others, managing hundreds of employees across Southern California. Post-graduation from USC Marshall School of Business, I scaled two companies, BAMKO and Spotad, driving their evolution from startups to successful exits. This paved my path into real estate, growth equity, and venture investing, where I have been an active angel investor and advisor.My commitment extends beyond business. In 2016, I contributed to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign as part of the Technology and Innovation Policy team, as well as a full-time organizer in Wisconsin, and later pursued public service with a mayoral campaign in New York City, driven by a passion to effect change in the place I cared about most.On the home front, I’m husband to Romi and father to Leo, Olivia, Sofia and our furry daughter, Osita. My journey reflects a blend of entrepreneurship, investment acumen, building, and a deep-rooted commitment to community & family.

The firm manages over 60 portfolio companies and has invested in 35 various-stage investment firms, oftentimes emerging, since inception. Representative investments include Fabric Health, One Finance, Torch Capital, and Volt.
