ABOUT MIKE AZZOPARDI
Prevention, rehabilitation, and performance form the cornerstone of Mike’s treatment approach. His focus lies in improving foundational movement patterns to improve energy efficiency and increase ease of movement. Coupling this with flexibility and a strong strength base, can bring performance to another level. He is passionate, dedicated, and strives to inspire others to achieve new heights. Mike has a love for soccer and has played at the Canadian university level in the OUA. He has suffered a multitude of injuries resulting in ACL reconstruction and has experienced first-hand the ramifications of overtraining at a young age. This puts him in a unique position to really understand the rehabilitation process through the body as well as the mind.Mike has completed his Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Alberta in 2015 following a Bachelor of Science Honours Kinesiology with a Pre-health Option at the University of Waterloo. He has completed over 552 hours of additional course work since graduating which has led to certifications in advanced dry needling, selective functional movement assessment (SFMA), and Levels 1-3 in advanced orthopedic manual physiotherapy. Mike is currently pursuing his fellowship of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (CAMPT), a globally recognized and IFOMPT accredited program. His never stop learning attitude will continue to drive his goal of becoming a leader in the rehabilitation and peak performance industry. Mike is also currently at the University of Calgary Sport Medicine Centre where he is able to collaborate with an extremely skilled team including sport medicine doctors and orthopedic surgeons in order to continue to provide a high standard of care. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys weightlifting in his home gym, playing soccer, snowboarding, hiking in the mountains, travelling the world, and occasionally dabbles on the piano. Mike is a husband to his favourite person in the world and adventure buddy, Diana.
