I am a skeptical optimist. While I believe in the capacity of people to solve complex problems, I believe that all endeavors to do so must be measured, tested, and validated, to determine true success, ensure that limited resources are maximized, and to generate new knowledge. Systematic improvement and progress can only happen if we learn from our efforts and lean upon the collective wisdom of our people. In as much as the status quo can be refined, often true progress can only be made if we disrupt and innovate, but this only happens when we learn from and are driven by data.
