I joined the BBC in the 1980’s as an engineer in the TV Studio’s special projects team, here I worked on digital score displays as seen on “The Generation Game” and “Blankety Blank”, designed a special sound effects generator and rigged enhanced talkback and communications facilities for complex live shows such as “The winter Olympics”, “The General Election” and Royal Events. Later I moved on to become a multi-skilled TV operator where I have been a studio and location camera operator, sound recordist, lighting director and VT editor. I have delivered and designed short courses on desktop editing, camera operations and sequence construction. I have also produced large BBC training events, both at international conferences and for the government. As a senior member of the training team I was involved with the setting up and running of the BBC’s flagship induction training programme. I am a qualified trainer and a member of the SET. Currently I am developing and delivering training on self shoot HD cameras, lighting for production staff and Desktop Editing. I also design and curate digital training content for the BBC Academy\'s blended learning programme.
