About Mike Rogers
Throughout my life and career, I’ve always been passionate about learning new things and striving for excellence. This was reinforced early in my career at Arthur Andersen where education was a priority along with an attitude of being the best. Whether it’s learning a new industry, a new accounting standard, a better way of doing something or teaching myself to play the piano, my thirst for knowledge is never quenched.I bring this passion with me wherever my career takes me, and I try to instill this desire in my team. I want my team to grow and learn new things. We work together to find solutions to problems, and when we make mistakes along the way, we learn from them.Going through an IPO is a very grueling, but rewarding process. I have played a major role in two successful IPOs. Success would not have been possible without a committed team. I believe a leader is only as good as those who follow him/her. In particular, I’m very proud of the effort we put forth on the PetroLogistics IPO. The CFO recalled that 11th hour overnight effort with awe and appreciation (https://issuu.com/shalemagazine/docs/shale_janfeb2016_digital pp 26-27).My years of experience as an auditor and in industry give me a unique perspective. I treat my employer as my only client, to serve and lead the financial reporting, accounting and financial compliance effort with excellence. I seek to provide solutions while also recognizing what I don’t know and when to reach out to others.Since the pandemic forever changed the way we work as teams, my focus has shifted towards making sure I connect with the other leaders who work for me and make sure they’re connecting with their teams. In Dare to Lead, Brene’ Brown says, “[W]e have to be vigilant about creating a culture in which people feel safe, seen, heard and respected. Daring leaders must care for and be connected to the people they lead.” Connecting requires respecting others. It is important for me to earn the respect of my peers not only through my thorough knowledge of GAAP, but also through the way I lead and the way I try to earn the respect of my team down to the greenest entry-level accountant. If you have a passion for learning and connecting with your team or if you\'d just like to share Excel tips, let’s connect!
