What global banks consider “the basics”, as they have large Compliance teams reviewing and setting policy, many smaller institutions do not have such a luxury and struggle to make sense of regulation and its application. Some of the more common areas seen were- Identifying which message types to screen- which regulatory lists to screen, not all are relevant- whether or not Dual Use Goods play a part in screening- what are “stop” words or phrases- why when testing of screening configurations takes place do items missand many other such issues.
