About Mike Owenby

I am a tax partner with over 29 years of experience advising companies of all sizes and industries on income tax accounting, cross-border tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, and federal tax strategy.Currently, I serve as the Managing Partner for the Raleigh Office and the Carolinas Tax Practice. In these roles, I collaborate closely with leaders across Tax, Audit, Consulting, and Advisory to drive impact in the Raleigh community and shape our Tax Services strategy throughout the Carolinas marketplace. Having spent my entire professional career in Raleigh, I am deeply connected to the local community and universities, supporting initiatives at both NC State and UNC Chapel Hill. I am a member of the Raleigh Chamber Board of Advisors and have previously served on the City Club of Raleigh Board of Governors and the NC State Department of Accounting Advisory Board. I am a CPA and a member of both the AICPA and the North Carolina Association of CPAs.Outside of Deloitte, I enjoy spending time at the lake, traveling with my wife, and cheering on my sons as they pursue their passions in hockey, lacrosse, and off-road competitions. I am also an avid tennis player—having competed at the Division I level for UNC Asheville—and enjoy golf, mountain biking, and am proud to be a two-time IRONMAN finisher.
