ABOUT MIKE OBBEMA

Mike Obbema is a visionary entrepreneur with more than 40 years of multi-industry experience in creating value and building partnerships with organizations of all sectors and sizes. A leader and team builder, Mr. Obbema identifies and maximizes the capabilities of his team members. Seeing opportunities and creating proven methods has been at the core of his “Partner Managed” approach. From the small fabrication shop to the largest utility facilities in the Southwest, he has helped organizations reduce their material and storage footprint, increase efficiencies, manage projects, and safely complete outages of every size and scale.Mr. Obbema is the President of KRUE Industrial, LLC where he directs a highly skilled team to support and manage inventory and projects for their customers. With a primary focus on utilities, his team serves all forms of generation from steam and gas to solar, hydro, and nuclear. Since founding KRUE Industrial in 2012, under his leadership, he has also formed partnerships in construction, mining, manufacturing, and production across the US and Canada.Before launching KRUE Industrial, Mr. Obbema was a territory manager for a national MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) supplier. A top revenue generator with demonstrated annual growth earned him a spot on the Presidents Honor Council. It was specifically the experience he gained, and lessons learned in his 7 years in this position that drove the decision to start his companies. From 1982 to Mr. Obbema led sales teams in construction, industrial supply and equipment rental. Among his achievements was the development of the entertainment division for ADCO Equipment Rentals in California and expanding the non-construction/industrial division of Sunstate Equipment Rentals.His companies have won many prestigious awards for their service and innovation. Mr. Obbema was recently honored to be named 2023 MBE Advocate of the Year. Mr. Obbema is married to his first love Maria. They have 3 grown children, 6 grandchildren and have named all of their companies after their grandkids. He is a graduate of ASU’s WP Carey School of Business – Small Business Leadership Academy and the Arizona Public Service Diverse Supplier Training Program (DSTP). He continues to mentor other small business owners and is a frequent speaker on such topics as “Achieving financial strength”, “How to engage with a Utility”, “Having a growth mindset”, and “Building Partnerships”.
