Course design and delivery of a variety of archaeology topics. Michael has 31 years experience as a professional archaeologist and has taught archaeology at under-graduate and post-graduate level for more than 20 years. He is the author of more than 40 books on archaeology including studies of Glasgow, Manchester, ROF Chorley, the industrial archaeology of Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Lancashire, and community archaeology. His many journal artices include pieces on community engagement, the origin of industrialsiation and the development of industrial archaeology, canal and railway warehouses, textile mills and workers\' housing. He has a particular research interest in archaeological theory and methodology as applied to the post-medieval and industrial periods, and in community and public archaeology engagement. He is a past editor of the leading international journal on industrial archaeology - Industrial Archaeology Review - and is currently Chair of the Association for Industrial Archaeology.
