In this role the Committee Management Officer (CMO) works closely with the DHS-wide Federal Advisory Committees. The Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) was established in October 1972 and its purpose is to ensure the advice these advisory committees render are both objective and accessible to the public.The CMO provided management and oversight of the Departments 26 FACA and FACA Exempt advisory committees.
