ABOUT MIKE MACKAY
Motivated and passionate about ship design, R&D, and the green transition. A Naval Architect with a background in defence, graduating at Newcastle University in 2016, and starting his career down at the naval nuclear dockyard in Plymouth. Following a grad scheme, Mike joined the naval concept design department, working on various novel technologies in early stage frigate and submarine development.After this, he joined Frazer-Nash consultancy in the marine tech department, working on various commercial and defence projects as well as leading a number of funded R&D programmes based on ideas he put forward. Currently Mike is head of vessel design at DRIFT Energy, a cutting edge deep tech start up developing a new class of renewable energy through the power of sailing ships that follow the ocean\'s weather.
