About Mike Guernsey

Mike is an Audit Partner with more than 17 years of experience in the areas of auditing, accounting and financial reporting. From 2018 to 2021, Mike served as a Managing Director on rotation in the Department of Professional Practice (DPP). Prior to joining DPP, Mike was a Senior Manager in the Audit Practice of KPMG Short Hills and has audit experience serving both public and private companies. This includes managing financial statement audits and audits of internal control over financial reporting (ICFR) for large global SEC registrants. While on rotation in DPP Mike has served as a member of the Accounting Standards Group where he’s contributed to the following publications:• Segment Reporting Handbook• Revenue Recognition Handbook• IFRS Perspectives newsletterMike assisted in the delivery of trainings on topics related to income taxes, business combinations, audit reporting and IFRS and has technical expertise in revenue recognition, impairment, debt offerings, income taxes, and business combinations. Mike has also served as a KPMG national office liaison to facilitate and oversee the PCAOB inspection process on multiple inspections and was previously a member of DPP’s Audit Group where he primarily focused on KPMG’s audit methodology over accounting estimates. Mike also served as a member of DPP’s Integrated Inquiries Group where he assisted teams with accounting and audit related inquiries.Mike is also currently a member of KPMG’s Audit Quality Support Network.
