ABOUT MIKE GORMAN

My first career began and ended at West Point. As a Cadet, I wanted a life of adventure and purpose. As an instructor, ten years later, I taught and mentored cadets to seek something similar that inspired them to lead and live well. My second career will be the law. Some things haven\'t changed. I\'m still seeking adventure and purpose. Other things have changed. I\'ve grown more empathetic and less egotistic. I\'ve become more internally driven and less externally motivated. I\'m more interested in the moment-by-moment experience and less in quantifiable achievements. And despite early efforts to the contrary, I actually love to read. These three years of law school will afford me time to pursue an intellectual curiosity and understand how the law works—and doesn\'t work—throughout our country. Afterward, something tells me I\'ll still be seeking adventure and purpose in the law. I\'m excited to begin my legal career as a litigation associate at Skadden Arps in Boston. On a personal note: I love my wife, Bernadette, and the life we\'re building; I have a meaningful meditation practice; and I\'m a Settlers of Catan aficionado.
