ABOUT MIKE E.

I have 10 years of strategic leadership experience “designing for good” specifically in the EdTech, Non-profit and Social Impact spaces, 7 of which, as a direct manager working with small teams in a remote setting. And currently as the Sr. Director of Product at Empatico, along with leading the UX team, I oversee both the QA and Engineering teams as well. As a leader, I believe in creating safe spaces for my teams to learn, grow and thrive both individually, together and cross-functionally. I like to mentor and encourage their strengths while identifying weaknesses that we can develop into strengths. All at a pace that works in tandem with the organization and the individual’s goals. Throughout my career, I’ve always been dedicated in providing impact and data driven decisions for the companies and organizations I’ve work with. I like being at the intersection where business and creative strategies meet. It’s a bit cliche but, I think one drives the other and I always strive to offer strategic guidance and solutions which balance both sides uniformly in getting things done. Usually with a sense of humor too, because I love to laugh and keep things fun while working on creating serious solutions to the world’s problems. What’s the point of anything if you’re not having fun? Over the years, I’m proud that my teams and I have accomplished many positive outcomes, such as- Increasing the impact and growth of empathy and social-emotional learning on a global scale, connecting teachers and their students from over 131 different counties around the world, to teach and learn from one another - Empowering student in the US to stay active and healthy, and by doing so, these same students have helped save the lives of over 100K malnourished children in developing countries around the world - Providing agency to students to donate to local charitable causes in their own neighborhoods and regions giving them a “taste of philanthropy” and what it means to give - Gave a growing number of children the gift and love of reading and learning, both at home and at school I’m an advocate for social impact, empowerment, and change. I’ve really come to believe that if we aren’t focusing our energy towards contributing to the betterment of the world in some way, life is an uphill battle, so if we can provide tools to those in need and to help others less fortunate than us, we’re on the right track.
