   WBD was formed to assist small businesses in gaining access to capital in order to grow their enterprises, provide job opportunities, and inspire their communities. The cornerstone of WBD\'s success has been via its delivery of the SBA 504 product throughout the state of Wisconsin, plus areas of Minnesota and the UP of Michigan.Across the United States, not-for-profit Certified Development Companies (CDC) are responsible for delivery of the SBA 504 loan product, which fulfills the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) public policy objective of supporting small businesses and job creation through long-term, fixed-rate financing. In addition to the SBA product, WBD provides consulting and loan packaging services to banks and borrowers. These additional value-added services provided by WBD give support to lenders and a manner by which to access other government sponsored lending programs without incurring large investments in training capabilities. The 504 loan program enhances small business\' working capital positions and provides loan restructuring solutions.WBD’s expertise with the SBA 7(a) and other national, state, and local programs, proves valuable for projects that need more than fixed asset financing. Since 1981, WBD has helped fund over businesses. In fiscal 2012, WBD rose to become the 3rd largest 504 producer out of 255 CDCs in the U.S. In June 2013, WBD was awarded SBA\'s \"Certified Development Company of the Year\" award (large portfolio) based on its successful track record and commitment to economic development through a wide range of resources.
