About Mike Dale

I have tap dancing to thank for where I am today. In 2006, I landed an Acting Internship at the Fulton Theatre in Lancaster, PA. It was the most thrilling year of my life. My internship concluded with the biggest show of the season,\"Thoroughly Modern Millie\".A few months prior to \"Millie\", I broke my leg after falling on a piece of black ice (thanks winter). Luckily, it was healing nicely by the time \"Millie\" auditions were being held. After working the NYC auditions, the director invited me to be in the show! There was only one small problem.this was a show filled with tap dancing numbers and I didn\'t know how to tap dance and was years behind everyone else\'s skill sets and talents. With the help of some truly amazing, inspiring and motivating teachers, I learned to tap dance.on a mending broken leg. I would often work on an empty stage after everyone else went home to perfect that choreography. I told myself, I was going to make each specific, rhythmic step and do it right. While terrified, it ultimately motivated me to believe and trust in myself, work hard and lean on others in my community for support. I\'ll never forget the last show. I had barely made it off-stage when the director rushed backstage and greeted me with tears in his eyes. I\'ll always remember when he told me \"Mike.you absolutely nailed it. I am so proud of you. Up on stage, you looked like you had been dancing for years\". Two years later, that same director cast me in another show of his. I know my work in \"Millie\" had a big part in that decision. So what does it all mean? Years later, I never imagined that I would be able to open a brand new restaurant in NYC that would become insanely successful and highly rated. Even later, I never dreamed I would help open and build out all the operational processes for a brand new charter school in a residential/commercial property. Yet, through the partnerships and relationships forged with many incredible colleagues and partners, we did it - even though we hadn\'t before- You too can do it! It begins with believing in yourself and blocking out doubt- Value and respect everyone - no matter the role or experience, everyone is an asset to success - Trust in yourself and the process, success will come - Lean on others to support, encourage and help drive you- Collaborate with others who have fresh perspectives and may hail from non-traditional backgrounds
