Cookie had a wonderful career in the Birmingham Police Department. He was officer of the year several times. One year the Attorney General of the State of Alabama chose him as Officer of the Year for the State. Later that year he was chosen as one of the Top 50 Law Enforcement Officers in the Nation. He was in or ran the Technical Operations and Surveillance Unit of the PD. He did all of the stings and scams that were always in the news. Locals from the Birmingham area may remember the deal where they offered free Alabama & Auburn football game tickets to folks with outstanding warrants. They arrested 300 + people in 3 hours. This was featured on Hard Copy, Americas Dumbest Criminals, and several other national TV shows and books. That was Cookies from beginning to the end! He was the first to involve NASA in a homicide investigation. The department had some very poor quality video and he was able to get NASA to use some of the best Software and computer hardware in the world to enhance the video. When he left the police department he became southeast sales manager for a company that builds covert surveillance products for the Law Enforcement community and the Department of Defense. He now owns his own company and sells covert equipment to law enforcement and ballistic vest and many other items. Mike has appeared at many comedy clubs throughout the southeast and numerous private Law Enforcement functions. Cookie is always trying his hand at writing fictional novels. Most of his subject matter is law enforcement or action in nature. Cookie started doing Stand Up Comedy and fell in LOVE doing it! I have a radio show on WTWX 95.9 that highlights Classic Counyty Comedians. I am also doing Voice Over work on the radio doing commercials on the radio.
