About Mike Buddenberg

As a member of the Employers Health business development team, I work with plan sponsors to identify and provide solutions that yield high-quality, affordable, pharmacy benefit services. My career at Employers Health started in a sales operations role where I worked strategically with both the sales and marketing teams to plan and execute our annual growth strategy. My core responsibilities were to maximize the operational infrastructure, including the organization’s CRM, that enables the team’s productivity and success. Today, I manage states of the Central to Mid-Atlantic region with the goal of growing Employers Health\'s pharmacy benefit purchasing collective. Our nearly $3.3B annual pharmacy spend allows us to negotiate better terms and pricing on behalf of our +350 clients. Prior to joining the Employers Health team, I attended the University of Akron where I obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration while balancing the life of a Division 1 student-athlete. As a walk-on, I learned the values of dedication and hard work, which led me to achieve my goals of becoming a 4-year starter and earning a full scholarship. I was fortunate enough to be a part of Akron\'s most-winning football team in school history, competing in the MAC championship game as well as playing in 2 post-season bowl games. Additional accomplishments include holding an all-time school record in the pro-agility (5-10-5) for my position segment, most consecutive games played in school history, Third Team All-MAC, and a feature on ESPN. Outside of my role at Employers Health, I use what I\'ve learned through my recruitment and college experience to help high school athletes navigate their journey to the next level of competition. Being raised in Canton, Ohio by a former professional athlete, I learned from a young age that football is more than just a game. My family and I have volunteered for the past decade working with the Pro Football Hall of Fame during its Enshrinement Weekend. Giving back to the community that helped me along my journey and spending time helping others along their journey is where I find joy. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my friends and family. Hobbies like fishing, golfing, and hiking keep me busy outside of my day-to-day responsibilities at Employers Health.
