Technical lead on the re-architecture of the Predix Timeseries data service. Replaced customer managed infrastructure with AWS managed services. Reduced cost by a factor of two. Eliminated noisy neighbour problems in ingestion and query by using customer dedicated resources, which also allowed for automated onboarding and offboarding of customers-a capability that was manually done in the proceeding system. Automated deployment of customer environments using Terraform, the AWS CLI, and Jenkins. • Scrum master for the Predix Timeseries data service team. Implemented all SCRUM ceremonies, got team by in which led to an increase in moral, velocity, and predictability. With the product owner, managed the story backlog, timelines, and resources. Unblocked team members as required and facilitated collaboration between multiple teams within GE Digital. Introduced best practices in software development. • Addressed security concerns and reduced the attack surface of Predix Timeseries by creating hardened distroless docker files and images for most components in the service using multi-stage builds. Implemented a health check app in Golang that eliminated the need to use curl, and thus a shell, in the distroless images. • Implemented a warm storage tier for Proficy Manufacturing Data Cloud (MDC) in Spark and Scala that stored data older than six months in Parquet files in Amazon S3. This allowed us to downsize our cluster and reduce cost. • Orchestration of MDC customer onboarding data load jobs using Apache Airflow. Implemented a generic python airflow script that allowed users to create arbitrary directed acyclic graphs of MDC spark jobs from a YAML file. • Refactored the MDC connect job admin Sprint Boot application to eliminate the use of a 3rd part dependency. Increased maintainability and reliability by eliminating hundreds of lines of duplicated source code. Increased test coverage from less than 70% to over 90%.
