   Public Matters integrates civic engagement with creative production, generating interdisciplinary, neighborhood-based, art, media and educational projects that result in direct community benefits. Public Matters is a group of artists, media professionals, and educators.Public Matters believes effective leaders must be creative thinkers, capable of addressing situations with few precedents. It teaches community leaders to be creative, critical, media savvy problem solvers with a deep understanding of their neighborhoods. Public Matters accomplishes this by engaging diverse residents in the production of media-based Neighborhood Narratives that both illuminate an area’s history, character and conditions, and contribute directly to policy and advocacy efforts, educational programs and community initiatives. Public Matters produces tangible community benefits: sustainable, effective programs that build civic participation, elevate neighborhood visibility and advance community agendas.
