About Mike Bilder
I witnessed the Snowmelt Flood of 1996. As my mom pointed at Williamsport from the heights above the city, she told me, “People died down there.” I looked below at Lycoming Creek and saw houses floating toward the Susquehanna.Thirty years later, I’m an emergency manager and weather/flooding specialist with over 14 years of federal service at FEMA and NWS. Outside of work I’m a storm and response historian and author, currently working on a two-book series on the 1936 Flood and Hurricane Agnes. I also have a policy background, and used to be a volunteer search and rescue responder.
