ABOUT MIKAYLA BARRY
There’s something really special about hiking through remote mountain terrain—the diversity of landscapes, the satisfaction of earning each mile, the kinship with fellow travelers. I find my work as a scientist to be similarly fulfilling. The same curiosity that drives me to explore those undiscovered places also urges me to learn constantly, and I find the daily learnings as satisfying as climbing up to a well-earned view. In graduate school, I became intimately familiar with the ways that surface chemistry and structure moderate interactions underwater. My current role at Clorox offers me a space to not only learn but develop products that can more immediately benefit health in society. In both, I gained extensive experience leading and working in interdisciplinary projects, and in the future I look forward to continuing to work in close-knit teams to solve engineering challenges.
