About Mikah Sánchez

Pialli! Hello! My name is Mikah (ME-kah), and I am a social science researcher, program coordinator, and youth advocate with over 5 years of experience bridging rigorous academic research with community-centered practices. As a Stanford graduate with expertise in mixed-methods research, youth development, and nonprofit program management, I specialize in designing equity-focused initiatives that translate research into meaningful community impact. My research foundation spans the social sciences, focusing on the intersections of gender, race, technology, and storytelling. I have proven experience as a Research Coordinator and Research Assistant in both academic and community-based organizations, including Stanford’s SPARQLab, the Clayman Institute for Gender Research, Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits, and Black Liberation Indigenous Sovereignty (BLIS) Collective. From digital message testing pilots measuring public support for reparative justice initiatives, to Community-Based Participatory Research assessing the needs and strengths of Two-Spirit Indigenous communities, I am committed to research that sustains, heals, and empowers our communities toward liberation. I believe in interdependence and authentic community partnerships as the foundation for transformative change, and my commitment to disrupting injustice has driven my work scaling programs in nonprofit and community-based organizations. As a Program Coordinator with Community Education Partnerships, I have the honor of leading CEP’s first-ever San Francisco expansion, designing and implementing culturally responsive tutoring curricula that center students as experts of their own lives and learning. My approach to project management centers the most impacted through sustainable systems and stakeholder engagement. This commitment is grounded in my experiences growing up on the South Texas border, where Indigenous Sovereignty, Disability Justice, and Anti-racism became key lenses through which I organize, design, and connect. When I’m not advancing educational equity through research and programming, I enjoy exploring local libraries, collecting vinyl records, and cheering on the Golden State Valkyries! I welcome connections with researchers, educators, nonprofit leaders, and comrades committed to creating transformative change through community-grounded practices.
