About Mihili Herath
I am a junior at Cornell University\'s College of Engineering, studying computer science, hoping to focus on product development and NLP research. My passion for product development stems from the possibilities of giving back to communities I\'m part of using technology and I\'m working to gain proficiency in both frontend and backend development. I have taken part in mostly Android development projects throughout college and my internship. I have developed my skills in Python, Java, and Kotlin as well as development frameworks such as Jetpack compose, Kotlin Multiplatform and MVVM. Additionally, I have also taken part in ML projects starting in the summer of 2024. Currently, I am working with Candogram as part of the Break Through Tech program to work on classifying job postings using ML technologies such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, and open-source generative AI. Through my ML and product development projects I have strengthened my capabilities in team management, skill development, and adaptability. These projects are also highlighted in my github profile: https://github.com/MihilihMy interest in NLP stems from being multilingual and noticing the underdevelopment of language models for my native language. I\'m working on gaining research experience to develop skills I would use to make a tech impact on my community. As a girl coder from Sri Lanka, I also aspire to inspire many girls to pursue computer science in my country and worldwide. I look forward to connecting with people with shared interests and wielding my skills and passions for advancing STEM.
