Department of Photonic Networks and Systems, Data Analytics and Signal Processing GroupResearch and Development work:• Research and development of telemetry frameworks, data analytics, and ETL & ML pipelines for network and service automation;• Development of solutions for network traffic analytics (i.e, traffic forecasting, pattern recognition, and anomaly detection), and for autonomous link-capacity adjustment in optical access (XGS-PONs) and metro-aggregation networks;• Automation of optical network infrastructure comprising hardware components such as: Optical Line Terminals (OLTs), Optical Network Units (ONUs), Optical Transponders/Terminals (OTs), Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexers (ROADMs), and high performance Traffic Generators (TGs)/Optical Network Testers (ONTs) using Python and SCPI;• Applied tools and technologies: NETCONF/YANG, gRPC/gNMI & SNMP/MIB protocols, self-developed Python-based Google Protobuf-JSON convertors, Apache Kafka, Telegraf, InfluxDB, Chronograf, Grafana, SCPI, Docker service and Edge Cloud deployment;• Experimental & simulative generation and collection of reference data for ML-applications in optical networks and systems, including synthetic and real traffic patterns with different profiles and burstiness;• Key contributions to the development and deployment of Prototype Technology Demonstrators, Proof-of-Concepts (PoC), and Standardization Proposals of the aforementioned solutions (ETSI ISG F5G);• Participation in Industry and National Research Projects: ML4F5G, 6G-RIC, GreenICT, etc.Organizational tasks:• Presentation of R&D results as project-reports, conference contributions, and standardization proposals;• Presentations and paper contributions to journals and magazines;• Development of further project ideas and proposals, as well as initiation of and support in industrial projects.
