Accidental Release Prevention Engineers are responsible for ensuring Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Programs (RMP) are implemented appropriately at various chemical and petrochemical facilities. Areas of focus include Risk Assessment, Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP, LOPA), Operator training, operating procedures, mechanical integrity, seismic assessment, human factors, inherently safer design/hierarchy of hazard control, incident investigation, process safety information management, Safety Culture Assessment.Contra Costa County has been on the regulatory forefront in pursuing the best process safety practices by implementing the Industrial Safety Ordinance (ISO). ISO requires facilities to evaluate human factors, perform inherently safer design and safety culture assessments. These practices were later adopted by the California state and implemented in the CalARP program.
