ABOUT MIGUEL SANTOS
Aerospace Engineering Master’s thesis at DLR’s Institute for Gas Turbine Simulation, with focus on automating CFD Secondary Air Systems workflows, conducting parametric studies, and advancing high-fidelity simulations using the in-house solver TRACE. My work focuses on computational fluid dynamics and turbomachinery, with research experience in modal analysis, complementing my background in fluid systems with structural dynamics insight. Alongside my academic work, I lead the Aerodynamics and Structures division of my university’s rocketry team, developing a m apogee rocket. My role includes aerodynamic design, structural integration, and coordinating across disciplines to ensure a cohesive and validated system. With a background in Mechanical Engineering and hands-on experience in workshop and automotive environments, I approach engineering problems with a practical mindset and a strong awareness of how designs perform beyond simulation. Outside of engineering, I have played classical guitar for over a decade, including performing for the Prime Minister of Portugal. Being a musician nurtured my discipline, excellence, focus, and long-term project vision. I also stay active through strength training, skiing, and mountain biking, and plan to begin pilot training in 2027.I am also enrolled in a German Course (target: B2 by September).
