ABOUT MIGUELÁNGEL VERDE GARRIDO
Professionally and academically, I focus my research, publications, and exchanges on the political, economic, and socio-cultural impact of global politics, emerging – as well as converging – technologies, and public policy reform. I hold a doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) in global politics and international relations (Freie Universität Berlin, 2018). My doctoral dissertation, conferred the grade of magna cum laude, focused on the impact that state and corporate controls over information and communications technologies (i.e, policies and practices of securitization, surveillance, and censorship) have on the political agency of civil society. I also hold a MA in Political Science and Political Philosophy (Kyoto University, Japan; 2009), which was the culmination of a scholarship granted by the Ministry of Education of Japan, and hold a BA in Philosophy (Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, Venezuela; 2004).
