ABOUT MIGUEL BALONA

Award-winning screenwriter, filmmaker, and editor with a passion for storytelling that transcends boundaries. I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with iconic brands across diverse formats, from captivating YouTube content to the beloved Takalani Sesame in South Africa, which won Best Kids Entertainment at the SAFTA awards. I proudly directed and edited a groundbreaking segment that introduced the charming duo Basma and Jad to a global audience. My horror script Sticks recently clinched the Best Horror Screenplay award at the Screen Studio Feature Script competition, showcasing my knack for thrilling narratives. I’ve also directed and edited commercials for renowned clients like Citroen, Garmin, and South African Tourism, including one of the longest-running campaigns for SA Tourism that aired globally for nearly five years. In 2022, I was honored to edit a commercial for South African Tourism that took home Silver, Gold, and Grand Prix at the ITFF Africa awards. Additionally, I lent my editing skills to the official music video for the Oscar-winning film Tsotsi. With extensive experience across genres and a unique artistic vision, I’m excited to bring my creativity and expertise to new projects.
