ABOUT MIKE BROWN
I am a commercial architect with a particular focus on healthcare. In my current role at James Totty Partnership, I deliver projects in the healthcare sector with a value over £1m and I am the practice lead on Community Diagnostic Centre projects.Beyond healthcare, I have experience in the housing, retail, leisure, commercial, and mixed-use sectors across RIBA Work Stages 1-6.I have been a Revit user for 10+ years and I contribute to the development and implementation of BIM processes within our practice. I enjoy mentoring junior colleagues and nurturing a positive workplace culture at James Totty.Outside of my role at James Totty, I am currently the Vice President of the Sheffield Society of Architects. We produce a dynamic programme of events which benefit local architects, such as CPD sessions, talks, socials and building tours, and events which help to promote architecture to a wider audience in the local community. As a trustee of the Sheffield Design Awards (charity number 11•••90), I help to organise biennial awards recognising outstanding architecture and public art.I\'m a local champion, passionate about improving our communities and developing local economies, with a particular interest in high streets, transport infrastructure and placemaking. I’m a big advocate for the transformative impact of the ‘Health on the High Street’ concept. By integrating healthcare facilities into local high streets, we can revitalise communities, as exemplified in Barnsley town centre.
