ABOUT MICHELLE WILMOT

Communications, government affairs and economic development professional with a diverse background in both the public and private sectors. More than 20 years experience in strategic communications and public affairs strategy, including 12 years in senior leadership. She\'s a collaborative leader, effective relationship builder, and results-driven professional. Prior to joining the City, Michelle served as the first Director of Public Relations for Miller WhiteRunkle, a 30 year-old Spokane advertising agency, where she created public awareness, interest and support for the agency’s clients. Michelle previously worked for two of Seattle’s leading public affairs firms, Gogerty Stark Marriott and The Rockey Company (now Hill & Knowlton), where she helped private companies navigate complex political issues and government processes. Beginning her career in Olympia as staff in the Washington State House of Representatives, Michelle has since developed and managed communications programs for McDonald\'s, Henry Weinhard\'s, Oracle, AT & T, and Experience Music Project as well as public sector campaigns that included the passage of a $120 million hospital bond measure in Kirkland and the defeat of Seattle\'s proposed latte tax. A western Washington native, Michelle is a member of the City-County Communications and Marketing Association and the Public Relations Society of America. She is also a board member with the Kent Downtown Partnership and serves on the Government Affairs Committee of the Kent Chamber of Commerce. She earned a BA in Business Administration from City University.
