WORK HISTORY
Associate Professor Child and Family Health and Wellbeing @University Of Northampton
Within my role I hold a range of varied, exciting and strategic responsibilities. Whilst I hold the title of Senior Researcher, my role represents a hybrid of duties relating to research, teaching, and programme leadership. I develop and submit proposals for a range of income generating opportunities (from local, national and international funders). Working closely with our funders I plan and execute projects of the highest quality, successfully managing a wide portfolio and producing quality outputs. The range of topics on which I have completed research varied and include research relating to, broadly, childhood, caring, disability, health and wellbeing. I regularly mentor new members of staff to ensure that our working environment is as supportive as possible to early career researchers. In addition, my knowledge and skills in relation to research ethics offer me the opportunity to offer regular support for staff and students applying for ethical review. In addition to the role requirements of being a Senior Researcher, I have assumed responsibility for level 8 provision within the School of Health. I lead the Research Degrees offered, including acting as Course Lead for our Doctorate of Professional Practice in Health and Social Care (D.Prof.Prac.), and leading our PhD programmes (including PhD by published works). This aspect of my role incorporates the responsibilities of admissions tutor for level 8, and coordinator of the discipline based training programme which I have transformed to include a series of methodological and skills-based workshops, enhancing the skills-set of both our doctorate graduates, and staff members from across the University. This year, for the first time, we are also marketing these courses externally, serving both as income generation and an opportunity to showcase our (research) programmes of study to the health and social care community.
