ABOUT MICHELLE LEWIS
I graduated with Honors in Unity College\'s Sustainable Energy Management degree program. I have experience researching domestic energy regulation and international energy and climate mitigation policy through my internships with FESS Energy and the American Council on Renewable Energy respectively. I applied GIS and archival research skills for the City of Long Beach Stormwater Management Division through the Long Beach Youth Climate Corps and for the Arts Council of Long Beach through a Public Art internship. I researched and engaged with peers about sustainable best practices as a Sustainability Ambassador working in Unity College\'s Sustainability Office. Striving to apply my skills for a more sustainable, equitable planet through smart energy and urban land use and through rural renewable electrification. Skills include community-based social marketing, public engagement and education, focus group facilitation, proposal writing, policy analysis, research, energy and cost analysis, database management, event planning, and GIS geospatial analysis. Issues of interest include climate change mitigation and adaptation policy, environmental justice, VMT reduction, mobility equity, complete streets sustainable urban planning, Vision Zero, offshore wind, building electrification, waste diversion, green jobs training for a just transition, and microgrid renewable energy access. I am approachable, well-organized, detail-oriented, and open-minded. I enjoy learning about other cultures and have limited conversational fluency in Japanese.
