ABOUT MICHELLE GARBUTT

With almost 20 years of experience in the dental sector, I specialise in regulatory compliance, CQC registration and governance within multi-site healthcare organisations.I currently act as CQC Nominated Individual and Registered Manager for 12 sites, alongside holding responsibility for data protection, safeguarding and company-wide compliance systems. Previously, I led national CQC registration processes across 180 practices, supporting services through provider and manager applications, inspection preparation and ongoing regulatory engagement.My work focuses on the practical application of regulation, reviewing documentation with meticulous attention to detail, identifying risk before submission, strengthening governance frameworks and supporting leaders to feel confident in regulatory discussions.I also have sole responsibility for managing complaints, Subject Access Requests and significant event investigations within my organisation, including evidential review and root cause analysis where required. This has strengthened my ability to balance regulatory expectations with proportionate, defensible decision-making.My focus is not simply to ensure compliance, but to continuously improve and streamline compliance systems through structured governance, intelligent process design and the thoughtful use of technology. I am particularly interested in how digital tools and AI can enhance documentation review, risk identification and quality assurance, allowing organisations to move from reactive compliance to proactive regulatory excellence.
