In addition to 25 years of experience in art education, I have also managed an art studio here in Austin and worked in a local high end retail art gallery. My responsibilities were varied but included scheduling classes, hiring teachers for the appropriate classes, ordering supplies, creating marketing campaigns for seasonal promotions and spearheading an electronic marketing newsletter. Working in an organized, large institution with standards and protocol, is my career goal. Some of my specific accomplishments and experience includes:• Achieving impeccable teaching evaluations throughout my career.• Commitment to public service, strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and ability to work in team-based and often demanding environment.• Traveling throughout Europe, viewing artistic masterpieces and experiencing different cultures.• Working with children who have emotional issues and/or disadvantaged backgrounds, modifying lessons to accommodate different learning styles.

   Specifically, art helps students learn to say what cannot be communicated with words. Art allows visual learners to take risks, think in abstract terms, and use their imaginations. I truly enjoy educating children and inspiring them to have hope in their future.Creativity also encompasses elements of synthesis and revision and cultivates critical thinking. In addition, art making inspires self-reflection, which in turn helps students develop their own authentic, unique voices.
